Eruca Sativa (Arugula) Herb Gardening Seeds: – Arugula is a member of the mustard family and boasts a continental lineage.
It is also called Rocket, Roquette, Rucola, Garden rocket, Rocket, Eruca, Arrugula, Gargeer, Roka. It is a compact, dark green plant grown for its strongly-flavored, peppery leaves.
Packed with nutrition and antioxidant properties, arugula is rich in protein, riboflavin, thiamin, zinc, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid and copper.
Planting Instructions:
- Plant Arugula in the spring after the hard frost has passed or in cooler months when the soil temperatures start to decline.
- Sow shallowly in rows around ¼ inch deep and thin to 10 inches apart.
- Arugula self-seed in many regions. However, the germination process takes place in 7-10 days.
Growing Requirements:
- Arugula grows well in full sun. However, light shade can be of help during the hottest time of the season.
- Arugula prefers moist, rich, well-composted soil with pH ranging from 6 to 6.5.
- Arugula grows well in moderate temperatures(18-24C). However, they can be damaged by frosts.
- Make sure that the soil is evenly moist and well-drained with no excess water.
How To Harvest:
- The ideal time to harvest chamomile flowers is in the morning, when the dew has evaporated and the sun is not that high.
- Select the open flowers and pinch the stalk just below the head of the flower.
- Pop off the bloom and accumulate them in a firm basket which is tightly woven.
- The bloomed ones will give you the chamomile seeds. It will allow the plants to self-seed next year’s patch too.
