Modernization, influenced by the technological revolution has changed many stereotypes in life. Interestingly the concept of modernization that has led to the openness of the society that can be seen in people receiving messages without any embarrassment that were once considered a taboo, does not apply to a sensitive but important issue like–Health of Reproductive Tract. Despite the massive quantity of Reproductive Health Literature, being available in various media formats, if the status of reproductive health continues to remain in the state of triviality, then the mode and method of communication process need a revisit. This is because the construction of every message is to be decoded by the target group the way it was sent, it is important to understand primarily if messages are being received, if yes – then if they are received in an appropriate way. This book is an outcome of observations that came out of a research project, sanctioned by Indian Council of Medical Research. The study was undertaken to understand the reasons for not meeting the expected results in the area of reproductive health, despite innumerable efforts. The discussions documented in the book make the readers aware of the reasons and interesting similarities among women irrespective of their demographic differences. The book also suggests experimental models that can be adopted for making the communication effective.
